A precision indicator is any of various instruments used to accurately measure small distances and angles, such as dial testers, electronic indicators, test indicators, and depth gauges. Dial indicators can be analog with a needle pointer or digital with measurements shown on a display. Digital indicators are easy to read and provide a quick tolerance check during an inspection process. Additional applications include calibrating machinery, ensuring accuracy in a manufacturing process, and quality control. Models are available that conform to ISO Standard American Gauge Design (AGD) Group 2.
